a year ago we did a review of the Kemimoto Midnight Series 40B sound bar as well as others in the series.

After a while we were notified that some of the latch mechanisms on the 40B were having some issues. We had noticed this as well. The speaker was difficult to get tight on the latch and is became loose and would jiggle around. We even had one time where the speaker bar fell off. It was at this point we reached back out the Kemimoto to see if they had an updated latch that they could send us. They explained that they did an upgrade to the whole product and offered to send us a new one to test that had a much better latch connection and roll bar mount. Since we loved the idea and the sound quality we jumped at the chance to test out the upgrade.

Picture this: a rainy day in may, a 2025 Kawasaki KRX, 2 guys in a garage, and the updated Kemimoto Midnight 40B!

The first thing we noticed was that the latch mount was now held on by 3 much stronger bolts. The original was held on with 1 bolt which is my we believe it had so much play, and movement when driving. Before removing the old sound bar we did a movement test and found a lot of play or movement in the soundbar:

After the remove the old sound bar and replacing it with the new all the movement was completely gone. The new mount is a lot more stout and secure than the previous. Not to mention the silver color of the new sound bar looked really good in the KRX.

Perhaps one of my favorite things it the start up and shut down sound effects built into the device. However, I am a nerd so it makes a lot of sense that I would like that.

In the end let’s not forget the coolest feature of this soundbar, it’s removable so you can rock out around the campfire, picnic area, or anywhere you would like.
